As is traditional, Prisma Dental will be closed for all of this coming week for Easter. The office will re-open on Monday April 5.

Costa Rica is a Catholic country and its holidays are mostly church-related.

Prisma Dental is closed today and tomorrow for the Costa Rican Independence Day holiday, which is Sept. 15. Costa Rica has been an independent nation for 188 years.

The Apartotel Cristina in San Jose is offering, for a limited time, a substantial discount on suites for Prisma Dental patients. The Cristina is a lovely, modern and secure hotel near la Sabana, the “Central Park” of San Jose. It is a short cab ride from the Prisma Dental; but many patients stay there and choose to enjoy the walk to the clinic instead of being driven.

So last night, Prisma Dental’s international patient coordinator, Tiffany Kofroth, had the brilliant idea of putting Prisma on Facebook to provide a friendly place for friends and past, present and future patients to interact, share their stories, get questions answered and generally mingle. By this morning, Prisma already had 114 friends — just a fraction of the thousands of people over the years who have had dental work done at the clinic in San Jose, but pretty astonishing for just 12 hours!

Among the pleasures of visiting the Prisma clinic in person is getting to meet staff members in person who were not here on my last trip. Prisma expanded its practice to include pediatric dentistry last year and of course we wrote about that here, but it was not until today that I got to meet the lovely and talented Dr. Diana Fishman.
