As we start to spread the word that we have a dental blog up for Costa Rica, we’ve been getting e-mail from around the world and patients old and new. I especially liked this one, from today:
“Josef and Telma are a world class professional team. The services they provided along with the Prisma dental staff are unmatched; their office is one of the best examples of modern technology and professional dental care available around the world.
“Costa Rica has become a provider to the United States (in the import of dental equipment) and Prisma Dental has become a successful model to follow. I believe that any dentist new to the field could benefit greatly by following the same path for quality and training that Prisma Dental has achieved.”
Sincerely,
William R. Galloway
Thanks, Mr. Galloway, for the kind words.

I was on the radio program “Windsor Now” (AM800 CKLW, Windsor Ontario and Detroit, Michigan) with host Melanie Deveau yesterday, talking about medical tourism and travel, and of course Costa Rica came up as one of the main places that North Americans go.

There is a reason that there are not that many good blogs about dental care in the world. Most terrific dentists are far too busy taking care of patients to sit down and write on a regular basis, and that is certainly true of Drs. Josef Cordero and Telma Rubinstein.
I talked them into this because I think it will be a valuable resource for dental patients around the world. I first visited Prisma Dental in San Jose, Costa Rica in 2004 and had extensive dental work that I could not afford in the United States.
I wrote about my experience in a magazine article that received a terrific response from readers; four years later, I still get e-mail and letters thanking me for it. That article led to my getting to write a book about traveling overseas for high-quality, lower cost medical/dental/health care and cosmetic and other surgery. Beauty from Afar was published in mid-2006. My dentists — my friends — Telma and Josef, and their work, were of course featured in the book. Read the rest of this entry »
